Oscars 2023 Red Carpet Rundown

Lets WRAP. THIS. MOTHER. UP. Shall we? We’ll be tearing further into the after party later, but for now, the main event needs to be put to bed. If you missed any of our exhaust(ive/ing) coverage, here is a handy thing all of the rad kidz are calling a link. It will take you away to more coverage!

Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli Couture

A pretty gown, but the opera coat might be a bit more than she can handle. The feather fringe hem is terrible.

Alyson Kierans and Barry Keoghan in Louis Vuitton

Her dress is as gorgeous as a frock full of faces can be and the fit is perfect. LOVE his suit, bit the color and the buttons. We don’t think the footwear works with it.

Andie MacDowell in Saint Laurent

Classic chic. We’d say it needs more diamonds, but we don’t think that’s her bag.

Cara Delenvingne in Elie Saab Couture

It’s extremely Holiday Barbie, but we can’t deny that it was one of the more memorable looks of the night and perfectly styled.

Elizabeth Banks in Vivienne Westwood

We thought this looked sloppy on stage and we think it looks sloppy here. She tripped on it walking out, which should have been expected.

Elizabeth Olsen in Givenchy

It feels a little severe for the Oscars, but it’s a very chic look.

Jenny Slate in Thom Browne

Absolutely the best she’s ever looked on a red carpet. The jewelry is exquisite.

Jessica Chastain in Gucci

The perfect presenter’s gown. It’s high impact, photogenic, very memorable, and completely on brand for her.

Jessie Buckley in Rodarte

LOVED this. She is absolutely in her sweet spot when she’s doing high fashion versions of goth, punk, or in this case, gothic punk. It’s a stunning gown and in combination with the hair, makes a perfect summation of her whole persona. There’s a dark romance crossed with a sharp DGAF attitude.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Lanvin

Another great presenter’s gown, although perhaps a little more sedate than it needed to be.

Kate Hudson in Rodarte

It’s perfect for her. Retro, glam, cutesy. Rodarte treated their ladies well this night.

Kerry Condon in Atelier Versace

The inspiration was Renee Zellweger’s 2001 vintage Oscar gown and we’d say they nailed it. The color isn’t necessarily the best one for her, but this is the best she’s looked all season. The hair looks a little casual with it, but it moved really well and we could tell be the way she kept flipping it and working it on the carpet that this combination of high fashion and a free, sort of beachy hairstyle really appealed to her.

Marlee Matlin in Dolce & Gabbana

This scrolldown was way more fun than we expected. We’ve complained a lot about the overuse of feathers lately, but this is fun.

Melissa McCarthy in Christian Siriano

We don’t love this. We’re all for space-taking fashion, but the way she’s completely covered, with only her face and hands exposed, along with design details like accentuated shoulders, bishop sleeves, a turtleneck and a massive skirt… it’s just too much. And the color is harsh. Siriano had a water pipe burst and ruin most of his studio, so this gown had to be remade at the last second. Still, he said he was very happy with the results.

Monica Barbaro in Elie Saab Couture

This color combination is gorgeous and the quietly retro, Grace Kelly-like elegance (with a modern neckline) is really appealing. One of our favorites of the night.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge in Dolce & Gabbana

Simple, but well-suited to her, with a great necklace (although we liked Angela Bassett’s better).

Sabrina Dhowre Elba (in Stella McCartney) and Idris Elba (in Gucci)

That color looks amazing on her. The drape of the gown is lovely but that giant sailor’s knot at the hip wasn’t needed. He’s okay, but his jacket is too small.

Salma Hayek in Gucci

It’s a gorgeous color and it practically screams “glamour.” The skirt looks a little too much like party decorations, however.

Sandra Oh in Giambattista Valli Couture

STUNNING. Another one of our faves of the night. The color, the drape, the pendant… the lady was SERVING.

Seth Rogen (in Brioni) and Lauren Miller (in Cucculelli Shaheen)

They honestly look gorgeous together. The gray looks fantastic on him and coordinates perfectly with her very pretty gown.

Sigourney Weaver in Givenchy

A classic working a classic.
